HealOzone
The past decades witnessed tremendous progress in medicine. The evergrowing knowledge in molecular biology and genetics brought deeper understanding and cure for many diseases. Dentistry, on the other hand, has not had such spectacular progress. There are better restorative materials, better techniques, sophisticated equipment. Such fundamentals as 'drill and fill' surgical approach, however, remain unchanged.
A better understanding of dental caries (or tooth decay) and of the intrinsic and extrinsic contributing factors, has led to a shift in the treatment approach. Today dental caries is considered a disease. Its treatment, therefore, must address not only the affected organ - the tooth - but also all other such contributing factors as diet, genetic traits, bacterial virulence and so on.
The ozone (O3) is essential to life on our planet. Some of its applications in medicine are documented.
HealOzone is an innovative therapy unit that produces ozone and delivers it in a controlled manner to the desired area with the purpose of complete and safe destruction of the cariogenic (caries-causing) bacteria. According to its creators, the effectiveness of the treatment depends on the duration of the ozone exposure and the depth of the carious lesion. Small, incipient caries have a good prognosis. The deeper the lesion, the harder it becomes to reach all the infected tooth structure.
